Artefacts

What are artefacts?

Artefacts are an out-of-character-term for plot-relevant items; each of these has a story attached, and may be very significant to somebody else at the Academy.

All artefacts are considered to be obtained… unlawfully. You probably shouldn't have any of these; either it is illegal, in bad taste, or may not sit well with others.

How can I get an Artefact?

Your character must fill these criteria;
  • You currently have no powers…
    ...or are substantially ill, weak, dying, depowered, etc….
    ...or have an auxiliary power with limited roleplay potential, like “Teleportation”, “Flight”, “Time Travel”, “Shapeshifting”, etc…
    ...or have a single, limited power, like “Energy Blasts”, “Claws”, etc.
  • You do not have a set of powers, like “Telepathy”, “Weather Control”, etc.
  • You do not have a psychic / mental / suggestion based power
  • You are not a Mystery.
  • You do not have La Bette Noir.
Then choose an item from the list below; the artefacts are listed by relevant group or story link, choose one that matches your background.

Note; David has the right to turn down any requests.

Can I specify something?

Yes, but once again David has the right to turn these down.

Please keep requests to descriptions (“A Laser!”) and not rules specific stuff (“A Laser that can kill anyone!”)

Can I specify something super specific from the background?

You can certainly try!

Do I need to bring the Artefact to the event? If its dangerous, why would I IC?

Afraid you do. You requested the item OC, you have to bring it along.

These items are as much blessing as curses.

Will you provide Phys Reps?

Afraid not. That’s up to you.

What if I don’t fill the criteria?

Feel free to ask!

Can I request an Artefact if I’ve already submitted a character?

Are there a limited number of Artefacts?

Technically, though more might appear as the story fleshes out.
