The Mirror & Yekri-Vra

“The Mirror” is a huge ornamental black mirror, measuring roughly 10’ tall by 16’ wide. It's frame is a series of interwoven animal shapes seemingly carved out of metal; they mostly resemble waterfowl or other winged beings.

The Mirror was first found on the structure that would later be recognized as the Nameless City, off the coast of Angelsey; the structure had seemingly been underwater, and appeared above the surface for a purpose.

Looking into the Mirror shows a distorted reflection of yourself, in unusual colours and unrecognizable fashions.

When the mirror was interacted with by the students of the First Class, they seemingly vanished, only to reappear hours later.

The Mirror is currently held in the Macllanllwyr research facility on Angelsey.

The surface of the mirror itself has many scratches, burns, and eroded black-silvering. The metal and glass has been checked for age, and the results confusingly come back as older than the planet.

It is currently under the protection of ETHER.

The World Beyond The Mirror

Interacting with the Mirror results in the interactor vanishing, seemingly dragged into the world on the other side of the mirror. The journey is instant, but incredibly exhausting.

The nature of the so-called Mirror-World is unknown; Dr Macllanllwyr has called it an “antimatter world”, though a more up to date term might be “dark matter” or “negative space”. Interacting with the world does not result in the same explosive climax that matter meeting antimatter might, but it would certainly makes ense that the Mirror-World occupies at least some of the unaccounted for negative-space in the known Universe.

The planet on the Mirror-World is known as Yekri-Vra, a charred black and red cracked shell of a world, burned and surrounded by rivers of magma. The oceans that haven't dried up have become polluted quagmires, acidic seas that deny all life access. The planet was once lush and green like Earth, but aeons of abusing and polluting the planet have led to it revolting and attempting to destroy the populace.

Modern society no longer exists, and possibly never did. Humanity is exiled, travelling the dying world in huge exoduses, looking for fabled gardens of greenery and lush forests, long lost to suffering eyes. If they are found by their dark masters, they are dragged back screaming, or killed for sport.

The world is ruled by seven so-called Pillars of Creation; millenia-old miles-tall “stone” towers from which mysterious tyrants have carved the planet up into competing fiefdoms. These towers appear to be stone, but are so much more; a combination of uncategorized organic material seemlessly merged with stone, but also highly complex seemingly natural enormous micro-circuits, running throughout the entirety of the structures. Their purpose, other than imposing Mansion's and centres of political power, are unknown.

The Academy here is one of these pillars, the so called Eyes Of The World, ruled by the Professor's doppelganger, the robed Kollec-Tor, so named for their menagerie of interesting humans and Fallen playthings and “students”.

On Yekri-Vra, Parahumans are known as The Fallen, and revered as the gifted survivors of a divine dynasty of superhumans from an ancient time. The Fallen care nothing for their world, feeling nothing for its inevitable death; to them, life is fleeting and mercurial and immediate. They live only to indulge themselves and express their power. Fallen like to form gangs and fight over territory, mostly dirt-encrusted human cities now merely geographic playthings to be squabble over. Often, Fallen will make humans fight to the death for their amusement.

In the fiefdom of The Eyes of The World, Humanity has only two hopes. One is the mysterious Esoteric Order of Marduk, an underground society determined to protect humanity and fight the Pillars of Creation through ancient folk-magic, but their enigmatic nature makes many disbelieve in their existence.

The other is the group of pro-human Fallen known as the Redeemed, led by the black clad masked-hero known as The Omega. The heroic Omega believes all people are equal, and the Fallen have no right to prey on humanity; they are one of the only Fallen brave enough to oppose the Pillars of Creation, and as such the Redeemed and their human Allies operate from an unknown location.

Fiefdoms

  • The Eyes of the World (Our Western Europe), ruled by The Kollec-Tor
  • The Final Mystery (Our Middle East, Eastern Europe), ruled by The Hum-Bul
  • The Cradle of Apotheosis (Our Africa), ruled by The Pay-Shent
  • Four other Fiefdoms exist, but their details are unknown.

Adventures in Yekri-Vra

September 1972, “A Mirror, Darkly!”

The Professor's fellow researcher Dr. Arianrhod Macllanllwyr invites the Professor to investigate a strange appearing-disappearing white-coral-structure off the coast of her laboratories on Anglesey. On the mysterious, alien structure, the Class find a strange black mirror, and touching it, are sucked inside!

On the other side of the mirror, the world is a firey, desolate, charred world, where the Academy is known as The Eyes Of The World, and its class serve as enforcers for the mysterious Seven Pillars of Creation. Parahumans, known here as Fallen, enslave humanity, and its only through the actions of the black-clad, heroic Omega that humanity survive. Allying with the Omega, the Class confront the Professor's doppelganger, The Collector, and find another mirror to return home...

The Mirror is removed from the strange structure, and placed under supervision on Anglesey...

Other classes may have had unofficial interactions with The Mirror, especially The Resident Class, who spent a lot of time at the Macllanllwyr complex.

Small raiding parties of Fallen have exited the Mirror, scouting for information for The Kollec-Tor. Fallen appear to be doppelgangers of Parahumans in our world, and are aware of it, sometimes trying to kidnap and replace their positive-universe equivalent. So far every attempt to do so has (seemingly) been thwarted.

It can be understood that The Kollec-Tor is aware of our world, and has some desire to understand it further. It is unknown why.
