The Alpha
The Alpha is the longest standing grand threat to the Academy, a supremacist with a sympathetic message to Parahumans; don't let yourselves be oppressed. At times a strained ally, others a ranting supervillain, at most times a Demagogue with the power and strength to back up their vitriol for humanity's treatment of its minorities.
The Alpha’s Beliefs
- Parahumans are not a subclass. They are greater than humanity.
- Humanity are animals who will not listen to reason.Words will not protect our weaker siblings.
- Humanity will only listen to violence. The ends justify the means.
- Those who stand in our way side with Humanity. They cannot be reasoned with.
- The Academy is not an enemy, but it is a roadblock. It must either be convinced to join us through our actions, or trodden over.
The Alpha’s Goals
- Retribution against humanity.
- The liberation & protection of Parahumanity.
- The elimination of The Academy, whether it be through assimilation or destruction.
Abilities
The Alpha has a masterful control over gravity.
Their specific abilities include;
- Allowing themselves and others to “fly”
- Hurling huge objects as if they were light enough to throw.
- Crushing objects.
- Making people too heavy to move or so light they fall into the air.
- Make bullets fall out of the air harmlessly.
The Alpha always wore a smooth white helmet that obscured their face, and a cloak that covered their body, disguising their body and even gender.
Due to this, many believe The Alpha wasn't just one person, but a number of different participants, passing the mask down the line.
During the 60s, they wore a white suit, shirt & tie.
Although many disbanded after 1999, a huge number still follow The Alpha as late s 2018.
The Unconquered wear white robes.
The Unconquered camp is hidden, and they have access to slowly degrading military munitions and hardware.
Sant is a young androgynous figure with a bowl cut, an athletic young build, shining medieval armour and what some claim is a halo. Their abilities include a healing touch, radiating light, and incredible strength and resilience.
Sant is a strong defender of self-identity, with a fondness and sympathy for those who found themselves cast out due to their nonconformity. Sant used only neutral pronouns.
Sant has seemingly died multiple times, and appeared weeks later showing only minimal battle scars. Sant had some kind of connection with D & The Peacock, both of whom they seemingly despise.
Sant used to carry a weapon known as the Blade Blanche, which they claim was “Blessed by the Devil, cursed by God”. It has since gone missing.
Of note, the only other named member of the Professor's circle was “Otkid”, the Academy's replacement Principal during the 1980s.
The Alpha was an Objectivist, believing people were Good or Evil, with no grey area of moral ground.

The Unconquered

The Unconquered wear white robes.
The Unconquered camp is hidden, and they have access to slowly degrading military munitions and hardware.
The Unconquered Believe;
- The Alpha has, and will continue to, lead us into the future.
- The Alpha protects all those who swear allegiance to them.
- The Unconquered protect all those who swear allegiance to The Alpha.
- Those who stand in the way of The Alpha are our enemies.
- All are fee to be themselves beneath The Alpha's care.
Sant
Sant is the Alpha's self-declared apostle and demagogue to the Unconquered. Seemingly immortal and able to escape death with minimum effort, Sant has been at times both a staunch ally and immovable enemy to The Academy.Sant is a young androgynous figure with a bowl cut, an athletic young build, shining medieval armour and what some claim is a halo. Their abilities include a healing touch, radiating light, and incredible strength and resilience.

The History of The Alpha
All that is known about The Alpha's past was that they were an associate of the Professor, Barracks and Dr. Macllanllwyr during the early days of research on Parahumans. The Alpha, whose culture had been oppressed in their youth, and still as in some circles, disagreed that Parahumaniyt and humanity should work together, as it would just lead to continuing oppression of a subclass, as humanity always did. Instead, they argued that Parahumans should be proud of their abilities, and The Professor agreed… until it was apparent The Alpha's idea of Pride included retribution. The group split, The Alpha claiming to find their own way with or without help…Of note, the only other named member of the Professor's circle was “Otkid”, the Academy's replacement Principal during the 1980s.
The Alpha was an Objectivist, believing people were Good or Evil, with no grey area of moral ground.
September 1969, “Enter… THE ALPHA!”
White-clad masked terrorist The Alpha single handedly attacks a Navy installation at Plymouth and steals nuclear missiles from a broken submarine. The Professor mobilizes the team, intent on stopping The Alpha, who was once an ally in their studies on Parahumans, but broke away due to their contrasting beliefs on whether Parahumans are superior to humans. The Alpha is not only charismatic, but makes convincing arguments about the Professor's ideas being weak and selfishly motivated. Regardless, despite arguing amongst themselves about morals, the Class deal with the immediate problem at hand, safely returning the missile to the Military. Defeated, The Alpha swears revenge, and laments that the Class are too young to realise their mistakes...
November 1971, “We Are The Collective”
The Alpha, aided by their sycophantic toady, the acrobatic and diminutive Spaniel, recruits a team of Parahumans disillusioned by relations with humanity to be his terrorist allies. Glammer & Dunne seek revenge against the Academy, The Gug is sad living on the run, and Thunderchild hates incarceration so they are easily recruited, as are two orphans taken off the street. Barnum is recruited from the asylum, and Arden's Moth joins for fun. They take control of a free concert in London, turning it into a violent political rally. Through clever thinking, the Class set the Collective against each other, and the Alpha retreats.
The orphans are disillusioned with the Collective, and will soon defect to the Academy.

July 1974, “Beneath the Gaze of ARGUS!”
ACTAEON creator Hayden Peters unveils ARGUS, a Parahuman-power-enhancing computer they plan to use with a convicted telepathy in order to detect and apprehend Parahumans worldwide. The Collective attack the Yorkshire facility with plans for the Alpha to use ARGUS to physically enslave Governments worldwide. The Class mobilizes in an effort to Ave innocent lives, but are ultimately unsuccessful when The Alpha gets to the device… and Glammer shoots Barnum in the back! Dunne reveals that she knew Barnum was possessed by Mr. Id for years, and knew the mind-enslaver would try to use ARGUS for himself… but she doesn't suspect Id jumping into Hayden Peters, concussing Dunne, and despite valiant efforts, ultimately gaining control of ARGUS. Id successfully gains control of all living things worldwide, creating a world where they are king without equal or competition ...
In truth, a wounded Barnum exerts himself getting to ARGUS, and using enhanced illusions, traps Id in a dream world. The Facility's structure compromised, Barnum pleads that the two teams flee; sometimes, Parahumans will fight, and sometimes they will unite to save everyone. Barnum, -- and Mr Id are killed in the fire, and the production of ACTAEON units ceases.
The Alpha, still confident in superiority but not in meaningless deaths, seems unwilling to continue fighting the Academy. Enraged, Glammer takes control of the group and flees.

Late September, 1975; “Stranded”
The surviving students are rescued from drowning by a mysterious benefactor, and awaken on an equally strange white coral Island in the Atlantic, ruins much like the Nameless City. Their saviour turns out to be the Alpha, living in secrecy far away from prying eyes, sinking ships and planes that come too near. The Alpha studies their guests, attempting to turn them against the Professor and turn them into a new Collective. Though close to breaking, the Class rebels, finding a magical way off the island deep below ground. Through the students escape, they earn The Alpha's ire, inspiring them to return to action.
During this time, the Professor sinks into depression; they meet several times with The Alpha, discussing their past, intentions and future. It takes weeks before the Alpha tells them that the Lost Class is lost, not dead. A spark of hope ignites within the Professor…

May 1983, “Repercussions”
The Alpha is captured by ACTAEON units in Scotland. Brought in front of the United Nations at the Haig, The Alpha is tried not only for acts of terrorism, but also the deaths of hundreds of military personnel drowned at sea. MP Hilda Grey pushes for a Parahuman-crime death penalty, but the Professor actually defends the Alpha, claiming they still have the opportunity to change.
An attempt to liberate The Alpha by the Collective results in The Alpha escaping, but not before claiming they need time to think about what they've done, and how they can put it right…
This is when Acting Principal Otkid takes over running the Academy. Incidentally, like The Alpha, they display gravity-based powers...

January 1st 1990, “Revelations”
All television and radio broadcasts are hijacked by an androgynous blue figure, calling themself The Peacock, speaking in a language understood by everyone on the planet. They claim to be an angel, slumbering for aeons “in a prison of storm and static”, and are the predecessor of all Parahumans on Earth. As such, they are disappointed in the continuing oppression and hate levelled at “the inheritors”, and equally sickened by those Parahumans who do nothing to stop it.
They claim humanity has a decade to put things right; if not, the world will be purged of the weak. The strong may find a home at the Peacock's feet if they are able to survive the trek. The strongest will be chosen by the Peacock to rule at their side.
The broadcast is discovered to have come from Mount Aragats in Armenia, and the Russians, Chinese, United Nations and American military forces mobilize. However, something prevents them from passing the Armenian border without explosive pain, no war machines passing through at all. Parahumans and religious devotees from across the globe are able to pass through, and reports suggest a bright citadel has appeared on the mountain top. The Armenian people call the Peacock “Prince Ara”, believing them to be the return of their legendary founder.
The Peacock, in full eight-winged splendour, appears before The Alpha, asking them to consider the offer, otherwise their survival is uncertain. The Alpha responds explaining the similarities between The Peacock's plan and the actions of certain mid-Twentieth Century Western European Dictators. The Peacock acknowledges, warning the Alpha that they have a decade to put their life right.

February 1990, “Precautions”
Gone for the best part of a decade, The Alpha returns, stealing hundreds of Weapons of Mass Destruction from an American-Iraqi Conflict. Disgusted at humanity refusing to change, and even dealing with an alien presence with immediate conflict, the Alpha holds World peace to ransom; if the Governments of the world act against Parahuman kind, they will destroy all world capitals from their unknown base of operations.
The Alpha is regaled worldwide as a hero for peace, despite publicly being yet another threat, and a Cult of Personality arises around them. Known as the Unconquered, both humans and Parahumans that publicly announce allegiance to The Alpha are soon swept away in a blur, and taken to their safe haven. The Unconquered mobilize multiple times against threats, and have ex military leaders with access to war machines at their disposal.
Prominently seen at The Alpha's side is the messiah-like long-lived Sant, an androgynous self-declared knight and healer who claims to have a connection with The Peacock.
The Collective see the Unconquered as foolish cowards, and hold no alliance to their one time leader…

December 31st 1999, “In The Beginning...”
The Peacock's judgement barrier begins expanding rapidly across Europe. Six more fields appear across the continents, wounding and killing millions, each headed by one of the Mysteries.
The Extreme Class teams up with Glammer & the Collective, Sant & the Unconquered and a number of Alumni to fight the Mysteries and destroy the Angelic Technologies creating the fields. Sant & two Extreme Class students are killed in the process, disheartening the Resident-Student-Turned-Mystery, who escapes alongside the other Mysteries.
The Resident Class, The Alpha, and Alumni venture straight into Armenia, protected by The Alpha's gravitational powers. They confront The Peacock directly, attempting to reason with the Angel, who wryly claims they're a decade late before summoning the “wrath of God” to test them. The Peacock kills two Resident Students, protecting their allies, during the fracas, determined to ensure that the Earth is “tested”. Sickened by the Peacock's disdain for what they claim are “their own people”, the Alpha brings the citadel down on both themselves and the Angel, whisking the rest to safety.
As the debris calms, The Peacock, little more than a broken torso, drags themself from the rubble, proclaiming they were wrong; humanity has proven itself stronger than expected. Parahumans saved humanity from Parahumans...so are Parahumans even needed? They are abandoned there to die, quietly watching the sunrise as they bleed white blood down the mountain...
The Alpha is considered dead, the Unconquered worshipping them as a Saint.
The surviving Class members return to the Academy, wounded but alive, their tenure over.
Less than 2% of the world's population is killed.
Nobody knows at the time, but seeds have been sown...

October 2000, “Alpha”
Seemingly recovered from death, The Alpha, flanked by the most loyal Unconquered, returns to leading the Collective, now using stolen, reappropriated ACTAEON ARGUS technology to try and forcibly create Parahumans in London. The Millennial Class respond, and the Alpha is successfully arrested after a confrontation at Westminster.
Of note, due the Alpha's masked helmet and body-hiding cloak, there is a possibility this is not the same Alpha...
January 2003, “Alpha, Beta”
The Collective spring the Alpha from a specially built prison off the Scottish Coast.
April 2003, “The Second Children's Crusade”; The Professor and a number of Telepathic students are abducted by heavily armed military personnel. The Class team up with The Alpha & The Collective to rescue them. The abductor is Colonel Bethan Piers, daughter of Eliza Piers, who is not only fulfilling military orders, but also avenging her mother and a number of dead Academy students, whose parents have asked her to retaliate. The Psychics are weaponized in a military installation in the Brecon Beacons. The rescue is trying but successful, and Piers is left to die under an avalanche of snow.
A number of students show sympathies for the Collective, or outright support for The Alpha's more violent methods.

May 2006, “Alpha; Gamma”
The British Government sets up a large hospice for the Parahuman cure, known as “Paracea”, in central London. Alpha & The Collective, including almost every ex-member, storm the city, cutting off transport, and take over Central London. Another huge conflict arises between the Academy & The Collective, with The Alpha once again captured & arrested.
July 2009, “Omega”
During a celebration for the graduating class, a surprising number of students erect barricades around the school, sealing everyone in. In protest of the treatment of Parahumans, and general disdain at the Professor's ethics and in support of the Alpha's, a riot breaks out. Dozens are badly hurt, and a handful on both sides are killed in the fracas. The Collective joins the fight, using the opportunity to cause damage to the school, the Alumni forced to break off to deal with them.
The battle is eventually called off when the Alpha arrives, applauding the effort, but despising the chaotic, Ill-thought-out nature. The ringleader is killed to make a statement, while those that claimed to support The Alpha are whisked away alongside the Collective.
The “loyal” class seem unsure what to do with their lives, having been forced to fight their friends in order to save innocents… or maybe not innocents, maybe those who hate and fear them.

March 2014, “Eve”
Against all odds, a Parahuman baby is born in Iran. An underground railroad effort is put together to get the child to the Mansion, as Purity First mobilize to “neutralize” the “threat”. Everyone from the Academy, the Collective, the Paratroopers and even the Guild unite to ensure the child safely gets to the Mansion.
July 2015, “Heroes”
The world's premiere Superhero team, the American-Government-sponsored Deterrents travel to the Academy, demanding that due to International law, and the many incidents that happened across Europe, the baby is delivered to them. The Academy of course refuses, and after weeks of tense standoff, shots are finally fired. An enormous brawl erupts, Alumni clashing with the world's greatest superheroes. Alumni on the Deterrents team have their alliances stretched and tested. More hero teams join the Deterrents, with the Collective, The Alpha, and even The Guild coming to help The Academy.
After days, the Deterrents overpower the Academy, going as far as to threaten (but not actually hurt) the Professor & students. However, the Baby is long gone, shuttled off somewhere safe during the battle.
Relations between the Academy & The Deterrents are strained, and it seems apparent that next time there will be no mercy, morals or not..
Are you the Alpha's child?
Are you the newest Alpha?
Are you the Alpha's protege?
