The New Class
Following the destruction of the School during the waning days of the tragic Lost Class, the Professor had no interest in reopening the Academy just to repeat those bad feelings. Yet, a small series of events would not only reopen the school, find it a rival in the Surrey Royal Institute, but also see a new Headmaster watch over the Academy.
The Professor commissions a new computer system to run the school, using salvaged technology from previous encounters. They encounter “The Nerd”, a young teenager with an understanding of computers that seems to be a Parahuman strength.
An attempt to liberate The Alpha by the Collective results in The Alpha escaping, but not before claiming they need time to think about what they've done, and how they can put it right...
However, the Professor's mysterious old friend, Acting Principal Otkid joins the school. Otkid is humourless, but has a strong moral compass and a commitment to the students, despite a possible anger streak...
Otkid makes strict their rules; No Leaving The Grounds Without Accompaniment.
As well as a large number of normal human students (all from wealthy backgrounds), the Institute teaches a class of Parahuman students, obvious counterpoint to the Academy's New Class. Amongst them are the so-called Prodigal, the talented younger sibling of one of the students killed during the Lost Class’ fight with the Nameless City…
What follows is at first a rivalry that will eventually bloom into a close alliance between the Academy & The Guild. In that first meeting, rivalries and romances, unrequited or not, are sown…
While mostly staying on the grounds, the New Class do have excursions outside the Academy, often to Stafford, Gloucester, London, Cardiff, and visiting the Professor at Anglesey . They often take part in extra curricular activities with local schools, attempting to hide their Parahuman qualities. They reach out sympathetic hands to children being bullied for being Parahumans, or even just being different.
While they continue to clash with Jerome Newton, The Collective & ACTAEON units, their biggest ongoing threats, other than the Surrey Royal Institute being insufferable dorks, are bullies and racists.
What follows is a weekend of terror, possession, confronting fears and painful truths.
News coverage for the same days describe an increased number of violent acts, unnatural weather, and general unexplained chaos across the UK.
The Cairn Child is integral in solving the nightmarish events.
The SRI meanwhile rescue Audra, without complication.
Chosen High Priestess, Lilian Eves, confronts the New Class, warning them not to interfere with the Guild's plans for the SRI. Undeterred by her treating their friends like toys, the New Class endeavour to continue their friendship, no matter the cost. -- notes how much Lillian Eves looks like paintings of their great, great grandmother...
Everyone seems to be affected by the enormous magical vortex; inhibitions lost and demonic features growing. The thing that escaped the Cairn during the Fear Party returns, causing infighting and faster transformations. One SRI student is even possessed by a remnant of La Bete Noir…
Climbing the tower, the students are unable to stop “D” reaching a light he claims is “creation itself”, until Angela sacrifices herself to stop The Magician. Everything is sucked up into the portal, and everyone returns to normal. D seemingly escapes, but the student is gone...
On Angelsey, she meets with the Professor, apologising for what happens next, but promising it must happen...
The New Class (despite Otkid's complaints) rush to the aid of the SRI. What follows is a bloodbath. The Nerd is killed by Botch, trying to save their friends, and half the SRI class die either in the destruction or at the hands of the interlopers.
The Professor arrives in the dying embers of the fires, seemingly recovered. Between the Professor and the Guild, old prejudices are reignited, and truces strained. The Guild leaves in contempt, destroying their alliance with the Academy.
Impressed, the Professor announces the New Class, and even the SRI students, graduated.
